David Hogan

Biography
David is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) with extensive experience across the whole engineering lifecycle with a particular emphasis on through-life support, business strategy development and quality leadership. His experience has been gained mostly in the Defence, Marine and Nuclear industries working with the Royal Navy, BAE Systems, the Engineering Council and Nuvia.
In that time, David has held responsibility for the availability of critical marine equipment and systems and developed innovative Contractor Logistic Support (CLS) solutions for the Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers and various other surface ships for the Chilean, Romanian and Saudi Arabian navies. After roles as the Head of Engineering and Head of Support Engineering, David led the introduction of the design for sustainability concepts into the ship design process and orchestrated the development of the engineering capability framework that was implemented across the UK, Saudi Arabian and Australian organisations of BAE Systems.
More recently, David has worked as Operations Director and Deputy CEO for the Engineering Council and Quality Director for Nuvia Ltd, leading the development of various quality, professional accreditation, business excellence, engineering and project/programme management functions. He is also engaged with Cranfield University in the development of Through-life Engineering Services (TES) to maximise lifetime value for products, capital assets and infrastructure.
When he has spare time, David volunteers for the IET providing support as an IET mentor, professional registration interviewer, Fellow application assessor and sits on their Registration and Standards Committee.
He is married with two children and enjoys the contrast of sharing time between his homes on the south coast, where he plays golf and Lake District where he enjoys hill walking.
