Effective project and programme management also requires experience and knowledge of the type of business or business problem that your project or programme is addressing. So for example, a project manager with lots of experience of building bridges might follow a similar process to one developing a new computer system but they won’t be used to dealing with technical system issues, software suppliers, software licence and support contracts, business processes, business data, etc.
