What is the Service Community?
The Service Community is an informal, non-profit organisation that seeks to drive service improvements and innovation through collaboration.
The community has over 230 members who come from the full spectrum of UK industrial organisations, many of whom are leaders in growing their business through service thinking.
Run by service professionals for service professionals, the Service Community runs events with site visits and presentations from some of the UK’s leading service professionals from a wide array of industries.
No fee is charged for attending any of the service community events.
Previous recent events have been hosted by GE Power, Cambridge University, Cranfield University and Konica Minolta, for example.
What happens at a Service Community Event?
Each service community event is not only a fantastic opportunity to hear about best practices from leading industry professionals but also to network with other service professionals.
The Service Community aims to provide opportunities to find out what practices have worked for other companies, what hasn’t worked, and why.
The overarching focus is therefore on the practical – less about theory and more about examining what others do and evaluating successful practices.
Service Community Event at Renishaw – April 2nd, 2019
The next service community event is to be hosted by Renishaw at their new headquarters at Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire, UK.
The event will meet up at 10:00, to start at 10:30 and will run until 16.00 including a light lunch for attendees.
On the day, we will receive a tour of Renishaw’s new innovation centre showcasing some of Renishaw’s latest technologies.
This will be followed by two seminar discussions:
- Breaking Organisational Silos: How can managers keep all the different groups and functions within a service business, focussed on the customer outcome? This session will be led by Martin Carr, Group Service Manager, Renishaw and facilitated by Nick Frank.
- Bridging the IT Solutions Gap Through Change: As organisations embark on service change, it is somewhat inevitable that implementation of support systems such as CRM, Mobile and Field Service Management are not necessarily in synchronisation with organisational change. How can managers see their way through this jungle? This session will be led by Diane Nichols, Service Development Manager, Renishaw and facilitated by Adrian Botham of Servispart Consulting.
After a networking lunch, we will hear a presentation from Chris Raddats of Liverpool University on “How Manufacturers Drive Service-Led Growth” and from David Schmedding of Heidelberg on “Moving to Outcome-Based Services.”
