Business as usual, but not as we know it
With the COVID-19 Coronavirus impacting all our lives, on a global scale, Servispart Consulting continues to operate as usual, but in ways that protect our consultants, clients, partners, suppliers and other stakeholders.
What we did and are doing about COVID-19 Coronavirus
At the start of the outbreak we risk-assessed all aspects of our business and the way we operate.
Initial concerns were the physical and psychological wellbeing of everyone we interact with and their families, followed by client’s concerns around finances and job security.
So, prior to the initial lock-down, we stopped attending face to face (offline) meetings, networking events and on-site work with clients, and replaced them with online equivalents such as Zoom calls/meetings, webinars, online events, tele-conference calls, etc.
As our consultants are already used to working this way with long-distance and overseas clients, this wasn’t such a change for Servispart, but we recognised that it is not what some of our clients are used to.
As the impact of COVID-19 Coronavirus has progressed, we have continued to monitor the situation closely, risk-assess and update our working practices in accordance with Government and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidance and our own common sense.
Guidance for clients regarding COVID-19 Coronavirus
The nature of Servispart’s consultancy work obviously involves close collaboration with our clients, usually via a series of conversations, interviews, meetings, presentations, workshops, etc. as we capture data, analyse it, produce information, provide advice and governance, and so on.
Using modern technology and cloud-based software systems, all of our services and programmes can be delivered remotely and online, thus providing 100% ‘COVID-19 secure’ delivery for our clients, consultants and partners.
Our consultants have worked in this way with clients and colleagues in Australia, USA, Canada and Europe just as easily as those down the road from us in the UK, as it is the way that Servispart Consulting normally operates and has done since our incorporation in 2006 (see ‘How we operate’ below).
Not only that, but when you think about it, there can be significant advantages for our clients in operating with us remotely online – the obvious one being zero expenses on our consultancy invoices!
Other advantages for our clients might include:
- Shorter calls/meetings than normal;
- Able to hold more frequent calls/meetings than normal;
- Able to hold meetings/calls at shorter notice than normal;
- Easier to accommodate remote team members (including home-based workers) in those calls/meetings;
- No need to find and book meeting rooms or car parking spaces at your site or office;
- No need for you to provide teas, coffees or working lunches;
- No need to find us a confidential place to work at your site or office;
- Easier to have confidential conversations/interviews without being overheard;
- Easier to assist you with highly sensitive or confidential strategic work without staff seeing us;
- And so on; this is obviously not an exhaustive list but you get the idea.
If you have any doubts about how we can work with you during these unusual times then please get in touch with us.
How we operate
When Servispart Consulting opened for business in August 2006, we took the decision to operate without a formal office and without any permanently employed staff.
This remote, home office, associate-based operating model afforded Servispart maximum flexibility to match client demand with top quality senior-level consultants, while affording cost-effective services for our globally distanced clients.
Back then, we never thought about self-isolation or social distancing needs, but our operating model has enabled us to continue operating normally, even with these COVID-19 Coronavirus constraints imposed.
We adopted a similar approach with our business processes, IT systems and management practices.
From the outset, we needed to be able to operate from anywhere (home office, client office, hotel, airport, on the road/train/etc.) and access information via multiple devices (laptop, phone, tablet), which necessitated cloud-based IT systems for all of our key business processes.
Unlike many of our small to medium consulting competitors, and many of the companies we come into contact with, we therefore utilise modern cloud-based IT systems for finance, CRM, sales, marketing, project management, activity planning, data storage, and so on.
If you need any advice on how to adapt your methods of working, business processes and IT systems to the ‘new normal’ of remote working then we’re happy to share some ideas with you if you get in touch.
About engaging us to assist you during COVID-19 Coronavirus
If you are considering engaging Servispart Consulting on an upcoming project or to address a current challenge then there are a few things to bear in mind.
Firstly, we encourage you to talk to us as early in your thinking process as possible, which will not only save you time and stress, but will more than likely save you a lot of money as well.
Secondly, once we understand your needs, we will agree how we could work together remotely to protect everyone against COVID-19 Coronavirus while maximising your results.
Thirdly, should we need to visit your site/office to undertake part of the work, we will agree with you how we can achieve this together, in accordance with the ‘COVID-19 secure’ guidelines operating in your business.
Hopefully this COVID-19 Coronavirus statement has done its job of reassuring you that we have the best interests of our consultants, clients, partners, suppliers and other stakeholders at heart and in mind at all times and that there is nothing preventing us from helping you to overcome your challenges and deliver your projects and programmes, if that is what you want us to do.
How Servispart Consulting can help you
As the COVID-19 Coronavirus situation develops, we know from talking to our clients and prospects that business situations are developing too.
For many companies, the initial need to send everyone home, stop manufacturing, shut up shop, etc. has passed and a ‘new normal’ way of operating is emerging.
Some companies and their leaders have got their new operating model all figured out, others less so and need a bit of help because designing service operations is not their forte.
Some have recognised their business processes and systems need an upgrade and are planning to do this, whereas others think it might be required but aren’t sure yet.
And then there’s the commercial situation – where some companies are struggling to survive, downsizing or reducing costs; others are looking to benefit from their competitor’s misfortunes; and some are starting to think about how they can grow from here with new products, services, revenue streams and adapting to meet customer needs that have changed quite dramatically, probably forever.
Whatever stage you’re at in your business, if you think you might need some help to recover, improve, adapt or grow your aftermarket parts and service business, then you might benefit from talking with us.
